Each type of insurance has different criteria for home health that Absolute Compassion must meet.
Medicare patients must be essentially homebound, meaning that it requires a lot of effort for the patient to leave their home, they leave the home very infrequently and mostly for medical appointments or special occasions. Medicae requires the patient need intermittent skilled nursing, physical therapy or speech language pathology and be under the care of a physician, who authorizes the plan of care. The patient must reside within the Agency’s service area and must be entitled to receive covered home health services under the Health Insurance for the Aged Act, Title XVIII and/or Title XIX of the Social Security Act (Medicare and Medicaid).
Medicaid (all types) have very similar criteria as Medicare.
Private insurances often require pre-authorization that the agency receives on behalf of the patient.
